North family desperately looking for their daughter
“We were shocked as she never returned home from buying groceries. We tried contacting her to check if she was okay but she never replied to our messages,” she said.
n Rietgat, Soshanguve, a family asked the community to help find their missing daughter.
Carol Mathaba (23) was last seen on 2 May, around 10:30.
Her mother Maria Mathaba said that Carol was last seen going to buy groceries. She never came back.
She was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans with black shoes.
“We were shocked as she never returned home from buying groceries. We tried contacting her to check if she was okay but she never replied to our messages,” she said.
“We did not worry a lot that day as we thought she had gone to her boyfriend. We were surprised when the boyfriend came to our house to see if she was ignoring him.”
She said they contacted her friends and family without any luck. No one had seen Carol.

“We posted a missing person’s alert poster at various tuckshops and on street corners so that people could help us look for her,” said Mathaba.
Five days later, the family went to Rietgat police station.
“On 8 May, we went to open a missing person’s case at the police station and we got a case number,” she said.
Captain Stephen Maluleke confirmed that a case for a missing person was opened at Rietgat police station.
“The case is still under investigation. We are working very hard to find the woman. We searched local hospitals and mortuaries but we could not find her,” said Maluleke.
