Chairperson of sector 4 CPF Nico van Vuuren said: “We received a call that a 50-year-old man was shot on the premises. ”
“Due to the lockdown, all CPF officials were not allowed to be on the scene but the necessary emergency officials were notified,” said Van Vuuren.
According to Van Vuuren, Rudolf was the son of two CPF officials Petro and Pieter Fassen from sector 4.
“Fassen was shot with a high calibre rifle through the security room window from a long distance. The bullet pierced through his body and bounced off the doorframe. He died instantly,” he said.
An official from Tactical K9 Arthur D’Almeida was one of the first security companies in the area to arrive on the scene.
“We were constantly updated by security companies Loyal Security, Groenlig Gemeenkap and Tactical K9 unit and have sent out warnings to residents in the community,” Van Vuuren said.

Friend and former manager Flip de Winnaar said this about Fassen: “Rudolf was the kind of guy who always had a great sense of humor when it came to family and friends. I still cannot believe that he died this way,” De Winnaar concluded.
