Laudium organisation suspends all disaster management activities

"This has subsequently forced us to suspend all community-related work, including the distribution of food parcels and other services with immediate effect."

Laudium Disaster Management (LDM) has suspended all its community-related work after a member tested positive for Covid-19 recently. According to LDM chairperson Ibrahim Dockrat, the member’s results came back Monday this week.

“Other members who were in contact have gone into self-isolation. This has subsequently forced us to suspend all community-related work, including the distribution of food parcels and other services with immediate effect,” said Dockrat.

LDM, a volunteer organisation, has been very active since the lockdown, assisting vulnerable communities with hot cooked meals and hamper distribution.

“The rest of the team are clear and not showing any symptoms, but will be taking the necessary precautions. Hence the decision to suspend all LDM activities. We humbly ask for your prayers for our members and all who have fallen victim to this pandemic,” Dockrat said.
