Child one of three injured in accident

A child was among the three persons who were injured in a vehicle collision in the west of Pretoria earlier today.

The collision happened in Transoranje Road, near the Daspoort tunnel and Morkel Street at 14:00.

One of the vehicles involved in the collision was found lying on its roof with a male patient trapped inside, according to Tshwane emergency services department spokesperson Charles Mabaso.

Firefighters had to use the “jaws of life” to cut the door of the vehicle and extricate him, he said.

The man sustained moderate to serious injuries and was treated before being transported to hospital.

The second vehicle had two patients, namely a male and a female, who also sustained moderate to serious injuries.

The child was said to be safe. The cause of the accident was not known. XseBlixsem assisted on scene.
