Hijacked courier vehicle recovered in The Reeds

"Suspects already fled the scene when we found the vehicle. No arrests have been made."

A hijacked courier services vehicle was retrieved in The Reeds by the Monitor Net Tactical Team on Monday.It was not clear whether the vehicle was making a delivery at the time it was hijacked, according to Monitor Net spokesperson JP le Roux.

“At this stage, it is also unknown whether anything was stolen from it or what it was transporting.”

Le Roux said criminals were targeting company vehicles that are making deliveries in quiet communities and that hijackings were on the rise in Centurion.

“Suspects have already fled the scene when we found the vehicle. No arrests have been made.”

The driver was not injured in the incident.

“Residents must please report anything suspicious in their neighbourhoods to their nearest police station,” he said.

“This way we would be able to take action quickly.”
