Herewith a notice to our readers.

On June 12, 2020, this website published a story about Moloko Moumakoe turning 100 during lockdown.

Two people (Patrick Moumakoe and Ziona Mothowabatho), purporting to be his son and granddaughter, provided photographs of the celebration and granted an interview.

Moumakoe’s daughters, Selina Moumakwe and Shirley Reneilwe Moumakwe, have since approached the newspaper with his death certificate.

Selina and Shirley do not know either of the sources interviewed and confirmed that Moumakoe had died in 2019 while in his early 80s. The photos used were of their father and Selina’s son, Tshepo, and had been taken in August last year.

Neither Patrick nor Mothowabatho could be reached for comment.

In light of the documentary corroboration of Selina and Shirley’s version, the publication herewith updates the record.
