“Our sanitary pads programme which is one of the biggest programmes within our organisation, has more than 60 beneficiaries and since the beginning of June, until now, we were able to assist 37 girls and women with sanitary pads,” he said.
The organisation was looking forward to expanding the programme to a 24/7 service ‘as we believe that sanitary pads are essential and that no girl should miss school because of not having a pack of pads’.

The majority of families that received the donations were led by unemployed youth, pensioners and single mothers. One of the families assessed has a nine-year-old girl who was raped, according to her mother.
She claimed the attacker bribed police officers handling her case ‘because I saw the rapist roaming freely around the streets of Mamelodi’.
Malahlela said the management of the Eye of Hope was committed to fighting for justice for the girl.
“We are currently busy requesting support from law firms and seeking partnership with women empowerment and gender-based violence activists, movements and organisations to ensure that we find justice for her.”
The Eye of Hope is a youth educational organisation formed in 2018, by 14-year-old Kutloano. It aims to better the lives of the poor. Anyone who wishes to help with funds or donations may contact Kutloano Malahlela on 074-711-5696.
