Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 136 879
66 374 recoveries and 999 deaths recorded in province on Monday.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 136 879 with 66 374 recoveries and 999 deaths on Monday.
In a statement, the Department of Health on Friday said out of 55 008 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 38 526 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and they were de-isolated.
The department said 2 487 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
– Johannesburg: 59 374 cases and 33 276 recoveries
– Ekurhuleni: 30 606 cases and 18 871 recoveries
– Tshwane: 25 021 cases and 10 446 recoveries
– Sedibeng: 8 131 cases and 1700 recoveries
– West Rand: 9 004 cases and 4 055 recoveries

And 91 unallocated cases.
