New east clinic to service community
Tsakane Charlotte clinic was launched during the celebration of Mandela Day, and held free health screenings for the public.

Residents of Mamelodi East no longer have to spend time waiting in long queues to receive medical attention as a professional nurse has opened a new clinic in Gem Valley, Mamelodi East.
Tsakane Charlotte clinic was launched during the celebration of Mandela Day, and held free health screenings for the public.
Founder of the clinic Charlotte Malope said she was driven by passion to start the facility and wanted to help her patients.
“TC clinic aims to provide affordable quality primary healthcare to its patients,” said Malope.
Her vision around providing improved healthcare solutions to the community of Mamelodi is what brought the clinic into existence.
She said working in the local clinic in Mamelodi for some time, interacting and getting to know her patients very well, helped her a lot.
“It made me to realise that most of the patients wake up early in the morning, just to be first in line and it was not safe for them,” said Malope.

However, most of them came early just because they were still going to work and could not afford to take a day off.
“The clinic is one of its kind and offers all primary health care services and assists locals at a reasonable fee,” she said.
The clinic started operating around May, but due to the national lockdown could not officially be launched.
Malope said the celebration of Mandela Day was an opportunity to officially introduce the clinic to the public by conducting free health screenings.
“The clinic provides a wide range of primary health care services through innovative solutions to improve the quality of patients care and improve the health services within the local community.

“Tsakane Charlotte clinic cares for people with general health problems such as high blood pressure, immunisation and child care, sexual health and STD testing, HIV testing and prevention, family planning and maternal care, nutrition and wellness. The clinic also offers home care visits to patients who are unable to physically come to the clinic.
“TC clinic also conducts Covid-19 tests. Our screening criteria includes obtaining patients’ details, temperature and declaration questionnaire. Appointments can be arranged directly with the receptionist dependent on availability.”
Malope said she wanted to see her facility grow in the future, and have more clinics in other communities.
The clinic operates six days a week, from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00. The facility operates in Mamelodi East, Gem Valley, Ndukuzama Street, house no 2583.
