Parts of west to experience water supply interruption

“We appeal to residents to utilise water sparingly during this time.”

Parts of Pretoria which fell under region 3 were expected to be without water over two days due to upgrade work on pipe systems next week.

“Residents of region 3, who receive their water supply from Atteridgeville and Laudium reservoirs, are informed about a planned water supply interruption due to Rand Water’s planned upgrading work on their bulk supply pipe systems,” Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo warned.

The two-day shutdown was expected to be effected on 18 and 19 August, between 05:00 and 21:00, on both days.

“We appeal to residents to utilise water sparingly during this time,” he said.

The essential work which would be carried out included the connection of tie-ins near the Atteridgeville prison between the H28 and new H42 pipeline.

A third reservoir was also expected to be affected during the planned water shutdown.

“This planned shutdown will also affect Hartebeeshoek reservoir water level which is likely to run empty within 13 hours if consumption is not reduced,” Mashigo said.

“The city of Tshwane apologises for any inconvenience that may be encountered because of the scheduled work.”

Areas which would be affected by the water supply interruptions were:

– Atteridgeville

– Pretoria town and townlands 351-JR

– Saulsville

– Schurweberg 488-JQ

– Skurweplaas 353-JR

– West Park

– Laudium
