Centurion woman behind bars after baby’s body found
The body was discovered in some bushes wrapped in a rubbish bag.
A 39-year-old mother has been arrested on suspicion of dumping her baby in some bushes on the side of a road outside Centurion.
Police were called to the scene last week, after the baby’s body was discovered in the bushes wrapped in a rubbish bag, according to police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.
“With the evidence collected at the scene of the crime, detectives were led to a house in The Reeds area in Centurion. Upon arrival, four women were found at the premises and through medical examination, one of them was identified as the mother,” he said.

Moloto said the mother explained she had given birth earlier in the month.
“Police soon realised she couldn’t account for the whereabouts of her baby and so she was immediately arrested for further police investigation.
“A case of murder is opened at the Erasmia police and the woman will appear before the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon,” Moloto said.
