Youngster elated at joining United’s first team
"I would really love to contribute to the club as much as I possibly can in terms of scoring and assisting and possibly win titles."
SuperSport United academy youngster Selaelo Rasebotja recently joined the first team.
Rasebotja, who hails from Limpopo was a member of both the United MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) outfit and the national u.20 squad.
The 19-year-old joined SuperSport United in January. He was scouted while at the school of excellence during junior tournaments such as Engen Cup and the Gauteng Development League.
Speaking on the club’s website, Rasebotja said Supersport academy was a “school of excellence” in terms of training and the social life.

“I think I was able to adapt quickly to the environment because I played with players such as Bilal Baloyi and Oswin Appollis in the national u.20 team during the Cosafa Cup in Zambia last year, and there’s also Gape Moralo who was my senior at the school of excellence. He also helped me a lot to settle,” he said.
Eight months later, the young midfielder was called to train with the first team.
“Being part of the first team for me is a dream come true. It’s an opportunity for me to establish myself. I would really love to contribute to the club as much as I possibly can in terms of scoring and assisting and possibly win titles.
“It’s a huge opportunity for me that can also make some big changes to my life. I’m grateful for the platform that the club has given me to showcase my talent and help change, not only my life, but my family life as well; and also pave way for other academy players to be given the kind of opportunity that I got,” he said.
Supersport has played a few matches since the return of the Absa Premiership. Even though Rasebotja was yet to make his debut, he was happy to be back on the field training.
“Training has been good, we are happy to be back on the field; it’s been almost five months without football, so it’s been demanding but exciting at the same time.”

He said working alongside senior players was a blessing and inspired him to keep pushing.
“I have been getting a lot of motivational talks from senior players such as Grant Kekana and Boalefa Pule to mention a few. They keep pushing me to always give my best every day. I have learnt that hard work and dedication will always push one to succeed,” said Rasebotja.
