EFF shutdown forces Clicks shoppers, staff to flee through back door
The Clicks store at the Centurion Mall was forced to close its doors on Monday morning after members of the EFF picketed outside the store and damaged the front doors.
The entrance to the Clicks store in Centurion mall was vandalised on Monday morning, forcing staff members and customers through the outlet’s back doors.
EFF members gathered outside different Clicks stores around the country to express their outrage over an advert that has been regarded racist.
The advert on the health and beauty retailer website described the hair of two black women as “dry, damaged, frizzy and dull”, while in another image, the hair of a white woman was described as “fine and flat”.

The Clicks store at the Centurion Mall was forced to close its doors on Monday morning after members of the EFF picketed outside the store and damaged the front doors.
Shopper Adriaan Vivier told Rekord he and his wife were inside the store when they heard a commotion outside.
“I was at the pharmacy area when suddenly the doors were closed and we were locked inside with 10 other customers,” he said.
Vivier said the staff informed them to stay inside until it was safe to leave the store.
“As I was looking outside, I saw scores of people with some trying to gain entry. It seemed like they were forcefully breaking the doors to gain access into the store.
“Luckily we managed to flee through the back door with the staff members,” he said.
