Girls warned to avoid Wi-Fi hotspots after rape cases
“All the victims were targeted at Wi-Fi hotspots.”
Ga-Rankuwa police warned young girls to avoid any Wi-Fi hotspots, following a number of rape cases which have been reported in recent weeks.
According to police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi, perpetrators would force young girls into their cars and drive away.
“They are then raped and left stranded somewhere,” he said.

“All the victims were targeted at Wi-Fi hotspots.”
Nkoadi said that most of the girls were minors and therefore he did not want to divulge details of any cases.
“It is for this reason that the police are warning parents or community members not to allow children to roam around Wi-Fi hotspots unmonitored.”
He asked members of the public to contact police at their Crime Stop number 08600-10111 or the MySAPS App to report any suspicious activities.
