Man nabbed for attempted murder following Centurion high-speed chase

The high-speed chase went through the streets of Centurion and eventually came to a standstill on John Vorster Drive.

A high-speed car chase led to the arrest of a man in Centurion on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pretoria K9-unit members were following up on information in Wierdabrug area which led them to the suspect, said Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.

“When the suspect was confronted, he attempted to drive over the officers and eventually drove into their vehicle before fleeing the scene,” he said.

Miller said the Copwatch security company was driving past and assisted the officers by giving them a lift and chasing down the suspect.

The high-speed chase went through the streets of Centurion and eventually came to a standstill on John Vorster Drive, he said.

“One suspect was arrested and will face charges of attempted murder, reckless driving, and malicious damage to police property,” Miller said.

He thanked the security groups and all the members who were involved in the chase.
