Tshwane extends operating hours at licensing centers

“This arrangement is meant to ensure that the customers are catered for in aims to clear the backlog brought about by the hard lockdown regulations.”

The Tshwane metro’s roads and transport department have extended its operating hours at its licensing centres with effect from Thursday to clear backlogs caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The extended operating hours at selected centres will be from 1-30 October, according to Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba.

The new operating hours will differ from centre to centre.

Services that will be rendered at the identified licensing centres are:

– Renewal of driving licence cards;

– Application and testing for learner’s licences;

– Application and testing for driving licences; and

– Registration and licensing of motor vehicles.

The following centres will see their operating hours extended:

Akasia driving licence

The centre will offer services for driving licence card renewal by appointment and subject to submission of a valid optometrist certificate.

– Application for temporary driving licences subject to submission of a valid optometrist certificate. No need for an appointment.

– Application and testing for learner licence via the online booking system.

The offices will open at 08:00 and close at 18:00 on weekdays, while on Saturdays the offices will open at 08:00 and close at 13:00.

Akasia motor vehicle registration

The centre will offer licensing and registration of motor vehicles at public walk-in facilities.

The offices will open at 08:00 and close at 15:00 on weekdays, while on Saturdays, the offices will open at 08:00 and close at 13:00.

Centurion driving licence

– The centre will offer driving licence card renewal by appointment and subject to submission of a valid optometrist’s certificate.

– Application for temporary driving licences subject to the submission of a valid optometrist’s certificate.

– Application and testing for learner and driving licence via the online booking system.

– The offices will open at 08:00 and close at 18:00 on weekdays, while on Saturdays, the offices will open at 08:00 and close at 13:00.

Centurion motor vehicle registration

– The centre will offer services for licensing and registration of motor vehicles at public walk-in facilities.

– The offices will open at 08:00 and close at 15:00 on weekdays, while on Saturdays, the offices will open at 08:00 and close at 13:00.

Watloo driving licence

– The centre will offer driving licence card renewal by appointment and subject to the submission of a valid optometrist’s certificate.

– Application for temporary driving licences subject to submission of a valid optometrist’s certificate. No need for an appointment.

– Application and testing for learner and driving licence via the online booking system.

The offices will open at 08:00 and close at 15:00 on weekdays, and on Saturdays, the offices will open at 08:00 and close at 13:00.
