Disturbing north complex murder-suicide video condemned

Police condemned the recording and distribution of a video showing the body of a woman lying next to her dying boyfriend in a pool of blood on the pavement widely circulated on various social media platforms.

Police have condemned the online circulation of a disturbing video related to a suspected murder-suicide at a residential complex in The Orchards, north of Pretoria.

The video shows the body of a woman lying in a pool of blood on the ground next to her wounded boyfriend and has been widely circulated on various social media platforms.

“Not only is the recording and circulating of content of this nature for no constructive reason insensitive to the deceased’s relatives and close associates, but it could also jeopardise the outcome of our investigation,” said provincial police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo.

“The public is urged to stop with immediate effect, the circulation of this video clip and to delete such content from their devices.”

It was understood the woman’s boyfriend shot and killed her, before turning the gun on himself earlier this week.

According to police, Akasia officers responded to the shooting incident in the parking lot of a residential complex in question on 29 September.

“It is alleged that the male suspect fatally shot a 27-year-old woman following an argument,” Masondo said.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.
