Bring your print Rekord to life!

By using a free and downloadable app, called PixZAR, the opportunity to bring your newspaper to life with cutting edge technology, is at your fingertips.

Have you ever heard of augmented reality, also referred to as AR?

Well, if you haven’t, get ready because the Rekord is going to augment your print edition of the newspaper in a big way.

By using a free and downloadable app, called PixZAR, the opportunity to bring your newspaper to life with cutting edge technology, is at your fingertips.

Augmented reality is a type of technology that blends interactive digital elements on newspaper pages. The result is a composite, moving view – allowing you to watch videos, view photo galleries or listen to voice notes, all through your printed edition of the Rekord.

With the Covid-19 restrictions, you no longer have to miss out on the exciting experiences that are still unfolding around us.

This innovative application and magical interface bring your reading experience to life by the myriad of digital elements to enhance the manner in which you enjoy receiving your news.

Ready to immerse yourself in some augmented reality? We’ll take you through the process:

– Pick up your smartphone

– Go to the Play Store on Android devices or App Store on Apple devices.

– Download the free PixZAR application.

– Once you have the app open and have successfully completed the necessary prompts, hover your phone over the article and watch the tutorial video pop up on your phone.

– If you were able to watch the video successfully, that’s awesome! You have now officially engaged in augmented reality.

Don’t forget to check out our augmented articles in next week’s edition of Rekord.

All augmented articles will be clearly marked with a PixZAR logo which will include icons indicating a video, gallery, sound clip or online article.

Friends and family who reside outside the Pretoria area will also be able to access our augmented articles via our e-papers on our website www.rekord.co.za/epapers The same instructions apply and all augmented articles can be scanned on a computer screen.

Tip: For augmented videos, you have a click and play option. Once the video is in full-screen mode, you will be able to move your device away from the paper and continue watching the visuals.
