He helped Matsatsantsa to the 2019 MTN8 title, netting in the final against Highlands Park last October.
Since joining the Pretoria club seven years ago, Grobler’s progress at the club has been hampered by injuries. Despite injury delays, the striker still managed to net over 50 goals in his seven years with the club.
Last season, the “sniper” enjoyed what was his best season ever in domestic football, scoring 14 league goals and three cup goals.
“After some difficult seasons due to injury, I had one goal at the start of last season and that was to do everything possible to stay injury-free and play a full season and anything else was a bonus,” Grobler said on his social media page.
Midfielder Teboho Mokoena claimed the Young Player of the Season prize, while the Players’ Player of the Season went to Sipho Mbule, both rewarded for excellent campaigns that increased their burgeoning reputations.
Grobler was part of the SuperSport United squad that camped in Polokwane last weekend for the preseason preparations.
The camp was successful as the team is preparing for the new 2020-2021 season that kicks off later this month.
