Two people arrested as Centurion land dispute hots up
Police are investigating a case of public violence and malicious damage to property after two cars destroyed by fire.

Two people were arrested by the police after two cars were set alight and security officers pelted with rocks in Centurion on Tuesday afternoon.
Matters came to a head on the corner of Saxby and Lorentz streets in Eldoraigne, Centurion, on Tuesday afternoon as an apparent land dispute erupted.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said police were investigating a case of public violence and malicious damage to property.
“The report we have at this stage, is that a confrontation erupted when waste picketers occupying the land-nearby where the cars were burnt were being removed by the owners of the land.
“Our public order police unit has been deployed to the area to monitor it. However, the situation has calmed down.”
Former local ward councillor Cindy Billson who was on the scene earlier, said the incident happened just before 17:00, after waste was set alight by a group of people who were occupying nearby land.
The group set alight a bunch of plastic bags that resulted in a bakkie and light motor vehicle catching fire.
