How you can help the SPCA this festive season
Here are the ways in which you can support the SPCA in the coming weeks.

If you would like to get involved with your local SPCA branch this festive season, then take a look at what services and news they have to offer.
SPCA Tshwane Waltloo branch boasts an impressive farmyard big enough to care for confiscated, surrendered and stray livestock.
“We want to make further improvements to the various enclosures to ensure we provide safe spaces for various livestock species,” a spokesperson for the branch, Riaan Visser, recently said.
“We call on the public to assist us with product or financial donations.”

Required product to improve enclosures:
– Temporary fencing – ‘strip grazing’
– Portable energizer for strip grazing
– Rodent and waterproof containers (large x3)
– Grooming kit (brushes mainly)
– “Shoo fly”
– Livestock portable feed troughs (x3)

“With Christmas around the corner, we’re looking for large quantities of gift wrapping paper (different designs), gift-wrapping tape, ribbons and bows to use at our gift wrapping station at the Kolonnade Centre.”

Kennel bookings:
“We want to thank the community for helping us to take care of abused, abandoned and stray animals. We still have over 100 kennels between our Centurion and Waltloo branches in desperate need of a dedicated monthly sponsor. For only R200 per month, you can sponsor one kennel and share your love with a special dog or cat. Your support will provide food, shelter and primary health care for one animal for an entire month,” Visser said.

Sign up securely online at https://bit.ly/324RHs7 or download their offline kennel sponsorship form.
Visser also mentioned the Brooklyn Square rooftop fair, which will be taking place on 16 December.
SPCA Tshwane will once again have a stand at this event.
“This is one of our biggest annual fundraisers,” he said.

“You can help us to collect money for the SPCA. In preparation for the fair, we call on the public to donate pre-loved collectables that we can sell at the fair. We are collecting books, art, furniture, Persian carpets, bric-a-brac, silver plated items, porcelain, tea-sets, even pre-loved designer clothing, bags or shoes and much more.”
If you would like to drop off any donations or items to be sold in Centurion or Waltloo, call Riaan Visser on 082-570-9079 or send an email to fundraising@spcapta.org.

Visser said the SPCA Tshwane desktop calendar was also now on sale at R80 each and available from all the following outlets:
– SPCA Centurion branch
– SPCA Waltloo branch
– SPCA Veterinary Clinic Waltloo
– Valley Farm animal hospital
– Wilgers animal hospital
– Pet Lovers Emporium
– Icehaven Dog Food (Janine 082-780-4642)
– Raslouw Dierekliniek

All animals featured in this year’s calendar were adopted from SPCA Tshwane.
The calendar highlights the remarkable and positive change that comes about in animals when given a second chance at finding a safe and loving forever home.
“This is a fundraising campaign that provides much-needed income to cover our operational costs; so please consider buying yours and a few for your friends and family.
They are also perfect as corporate year-end gifts,” said Visser.
“You can also order online for delivery to your nearest PostNet.”
