Questions linger over north man’s violent death

Tshegofatso Ntsie, whose body was found with stab wounds, was laid to rest at the weekend.

Akasia police were still on a quest for information which could lead to the arrest of the assailants behind the murder of Tshegofatso Ntsie (32) whose body was found dumped in a field in Karenpark last week.

There has been speculation that one person had been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder.

“We are still appealing to the community to come forth with credible information which will result in the arrest of the perpetrators,” police spokesperson Sergeant Matsobane Mabusela said.

“No one has been arrested in connection with the murder,” Mabusela said.

However, a murder docket was opened and investigations were underway to establish the motive for Ntsie’s murder.

Ntsie was reportedly last been by his family last week Sunday, the day before he was allegedly murdered.

His bloody body was found in a field with stab wounds to his chest, a short distance away from the Akasia municipal office around 06:00 on Monday, 26 October.

Mabusela previously said Ntsie seemed to have been killed in the early hours of the fateful day.

“Anyone who has information about this crime can contact us on 012-564-0700 or through our Crime Stop hotline on 08600-10111,” he said.

“Information may also be communicated via the MySAPS app which can be downloaded on any iPhone or Android device.”

Information received by police would be treated with the “strictest confidence”.

In an earlier interaction with Rekord, Ntsie’s long-time friend Ofentse Masemola said he would dearly miss his childhood friend whom he’d developed a brotherhood with.

Masemola described his friend as a “genuine person who treated people with love and respect”.

“I will forever cherish the memories we shared and I will always keep him close to my heart… Although he left too soon, he will never be forgotten,” he said.

Ntsie’s other friend, Leago Maako, said hearing the news felt like a nightmare.

“Waking up to find out that someone you’ve seen grow up and developed a friendship with has passed on felt like a nightmare, particularly because of how horrific his death was.

“You do not wish this to happen to anyone you know,” he said.

Ntsie was laid to rest on Saturday, 31 October.
