Provinces ready for 2020 matric examinations – education minister
“Social distancing has been decreased to 1m and this has assisted with the space provision for writing of exams.”
With matric final exams underway, minister of the department of basic education Angie Motshekga said all provinces are set.
The provincial education departments completed the training of chief supervisors and supervisors by the end of October 2020.
“There was strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols in provinces where face-to-face modality was used for the training of supervisors in cluster groupings.”
Motshekga said the departments had also appointed private supervisors and private monitors to manage and monitor the administration of exams at designated centres, while also having increased coverage of monitoring.
“Social distancing has been decreased to 1m and this has assisted with the space provision for writing of exams.”

“The DBE will deploy part-time monitors to monitor the writing and distribution chain of question papers.
“Part-time monitors will also monitor the marking of exams. The DBE will also make use of online monitoring of the examinations,” Motshekga said.
