Heavy downpours causing havoc on Pretoria roads
The SA Weather Service warned that parts of Gauteng could be under water this week as rain is expected to persist until Thursday.
Heavy rains have resulted in the flooding of some areas in Centurion and Pretoria on Tuesday morning.
Several roads in Pretoria and Centurion could be closed due to flooding, according to Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.
“At the moment we are just waiting for our crews to update us on what’s happening; however, we are monitoring these hotspots continuously.”

He advised motorists to be cautious on the roads.
“For Centurion areas, we are looking at Rabie and End streets and the Nelmapius Road near the Irene Golf Estate. There are also the low-water bridge in Capital Park near the PPC cement factory, the Apies River, the Moreleta Spruit, the Hennops River, which must be watched with extreme caution.”
Mabaso said a lookout was also given to various informal settlements known to be on flood lines.
