Best sidewalk winner named

This month’s best sidewalk floating trophy was handed over to resident Louis Fourie of Venter Street in Capital Park and the overall winner for 2020 will be announced in December.

The initiative of the competition was launched by Capital Park Residents and Ratepayers Association (Caprra).

Fourie said it was a “great honour and privilege” to receive the trophy.

“I like to keep my sidewalk clean and tidy. This creates a good impression for the rest of the residents in the area.

“I was flattered and am proud,” said Fourie.

Fourie said that was how he was raised: to keep everything around him neat.

“It is important for me to be a good example to my fellow human beings and to the residents who drive in the area every day.”

Caprra’s Michael Burt handed the trophy to Fourie.

Since January, 11 sidewalk winners have been named every month. All the winners’ names will be thrown in a hat in December, where an outside judge will announce the official winner of the year.

“It will not be an easy task for the judges to nominate a winner. The judging process will be tight,” said Burt.

“From Caprra’s side, we would like to thank everyone who works behind the scenes to present the competition successfully.

“We want to encourage residents of Capital Park to take part in the competition again next year to make our neighbourhood a neater and cleaner place and to be able to proudly say that we live here,” he said.

“Congratulations to all the winners and we wish you all the best.”

Donne-li Johnson, a real estate agent from Real One Real Estate, traversed the streets of Capital Park throughout the year, to choose the home with the neat sidewalk.

“This year’s prize will be a big surprise,” she said.
