Inquest opened after man found hanging from north bridge

According to an eyewitness, the deceased was seen sitting on the bridge around 06:00.

 

Sinoville police have opened a inquest docket after a man was found hanging from a bridge in the north of Pretoria on Tuesday morning.

The body was found hanging just under the bridge after Petroport towards Hammanskraal.

Sinoville police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said that no foul play was suspected.

“According to an eyewitness, the deceased was seen sitting on the bridge around 06:00. An hour later, when the eyewitness passed the same bridge, he saw the man hanging from the bridge,” he said.

“Preliminary investigation suggests it was suicide.”

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said police and medics were on the scene when the fire department arrived.

He said the 30-year-old was already declared dead by that time.
