Yet another body recovered by Tshwane divers

"The man was found on a smallholding in an irrigation dam in the Haakdoring area."

A body was retrieved by the Tshwane diving team (TDT) in a dam on a smallholding close to Kiewiet Road in the north of Pretoria on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi confirmed that a body was recovered.

“The case that has been opened. Investigations will prove the real cause of the incident,” he said.

According to a trusted source, he was on the scene at the time the body of a man was recovered.

“The man was found on a small holding in an irrigation dam in the Haakdoring area.

“Apparently the man drowned over the weekend. He was found floating in the dam close to the riverbank,” the source said.

Over the last two days, two more bodies were found.

A body was recovered by the TDT at Bronkhorstspruit Dam on the nature conservation side late on Sunday morning.

The deceased drowned on Thursday 12 November. The man was laying illegal fishing nets when his canoe overturned.

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed that two suspects were apprehended.

“Two suspects, who were allegedly part of the illegal fishing net operation, were arrested for perjury and defeating the ends of justice,” he said.

The decomposing body of a man was found in the Apies River on Sunday.

The body was recovered with the assistance of Tshwane divers behind a local gym in the area.

Sinoville police spokesperson Johan van Dyk said that community members made the gruesome discovery when taking a shortcut through the field.

“The body must have been there for days as it was difficult to identify the man due to the state of decomposition,” he said.
