In the early hours of the morning [Friday], two vigilant police officers approached a suspicious stationary vehicle in Archbell Avenue.

“The officers approached the vehicle and noticed one of the occupants was the man who had been on the run for more than a year.”

Shibambo said in a desperate bid for freedom the man attempted to lie about his identity and also offered the police officers a bribe upon arrest.

“He is due to appear the in Hatfield and Pretoria magistrate’s courts soon.

SAPS Eersterust station commander Captain Adrian Nevelling applauded the police officers who effected the arrest while on patrol.

“Police in the area are expected to carry out further operations to root out criminal elements heading into the festive season,” Shibambo said.
