Community mourns the death of the four lives lost in an accident
On the perimeter wall on the outside of the school, the message reads ; Parkies rou. Marli, Ronel, Nina. Julle bly vir altyd in ons harte.
The school community of Laerskool Menlopark is mourning the loss of three of their learners who sadly passed away in an accident on Sunday afternoon.
An accident on the N4 claimed the lives of three grade 5 girls of Laerskool Menlopark as well as a mother of the school.
Mariëtte Engelbrecht and her daughter, Ronel, Nina Strydom and Marli van der Vyver attended a Voortrekker camp in Belfast, Mpumalanga.

It is believed their vehicle’s tyre burst and they lost control before it crashed.
Mariëtte and her daughter Ronel’s funeral will be held at NG Kerk Stellastraat in Waterkloof, Pretoria, on Thursday morning.
On Saturday family and friends will say farewell to Marli van der Vyver at NG Gemeente Daspoort in Pretoria West.
On the perimeter wall on the outside of the school, the message reads “Parkies rou. Marli, Ronel, Nina. Julle bly vir altyd in ons harte”.
Other messages on the cards read: “God came to fetch his three most beautiful flowers for his garden, your place in my heart is empty” and “I miss you so much”.
Many brought bunches of flowers in remembrance of the lives that were lost.
Candles have been lit and flavoured chocolate milk and speckled eggs (some of the girls’ most favourite snacks) have also been put close to the sign.
Marketing and communication officer at Laerskool Menlopark, Francois van Biljon said that messages of hope and support have been streaming in since the tragic event that occurred on Sunday.

“Late on Sunday evening, I received a phone call from a mother informing me of the accident that involved three of our learners as well as a mother of the school.
“We are shattered,” he said.
“The support framework of the parent community as well as surrounding areas have been astonishing. We have received calls from as far and wide where people offered their assistance.
“It remains sad and a great loss,” Van Biljon said.
Van Biljon said that he knew all three of the girls.
“They were three special girls and academically strong.

“We need to pay more attention to each other, care more for each other and listen to one another,” he said.
“We need to give each other time to mourn and weep. Everyone has their own way of processing death, but it is in these circumstances where God’s grace is greatest.
“We must hold on to His grace. This is where your faith is tested,” he concluded.
