Tshwane mayor hails Bulls’ conquering spirit

Under coach Jake White, the Pretoria-based side has seen a change in fortunes where they bagged a number of trophies in the past few months.

Tshwane mayor Randall Williams has congratulated the Vodacom Blue Bulls for winning this year’s Currie Cup.

Under coach Jake White, the Pretoria-based side has seen a changed in fortunes where they bagged in a number of trophies in the past few months.

“They have had an exceptional performance in multiple tournaments during the last few months. The team under the leadership of coach Jake White and president Willem Strauss has truly done wonders while overcoming many challenges such as competing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is unfortunate that we could not support the teams at the live games as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but we have nonetheless tracked their progress and series of victories,” he said.

The Blue Bulls are not only the Currie Cup reigning champions, they also hold the following titles: SA u.19 Champions SA, u.21 Champions and SuperRugby Unlocked Champions.

The Blue Bulls teams are now the only reigning champions team in every single professional rugby competition in which the major SA unions participate.

“This is an exceptional and impressive achievement. Well done to the players and all the coaching staff. We as the city of Tshwane are incredibly proud to be the home of such significant sporting achievements,” Williams concluded.
