R10 000 reward for lost dog

Five-year-old Luke, a beagle, went missing from his home in Ystervark Street, Theresa Park in the north on 16 December 2020.

A resident of Theresa Park in the north of Pretoria has offered an R10 000 reward for the safe return of their dog, a five-year-old beagle named Luke.

Luke went missing from his home in Ystervark Street on 16 December last year.

His owner, Soné Louw is distraught at his disappearance and has pleaded with people in her community to be on the lookout for Luke.

“We were on holiday, and my gardener left the gate open, which is how Luke got out of the yard. He was a research dog, so I suspect he has some mild brain damage. I wonder if that is the reason why he can’t find his way back home,” Louw told Rekord.

“When he left the yard, my neighbour chased after him, and the pet-sitter even took our other dog, Bear, to walk around and look for him. We thought that if Luke was perhaps scared and hiding somewhere, that he would respond to Bear and come out of hiding.”

Luke is castrated, micro-chipped, and has a brown collar.

“We just feel that with that amount of money, if someone has him, they can buy three other beagles if they wanted to. We are very attached to him and would just really love to have our beloved dog back.”

Louw has, in the meanwhile, consulted with two animal communicators who have assured her he is still alive and probably lost.

“I believe they are telling the truth because they knew things about his medical history that only myself and the vet we take him to, know about. According to one of the communicators – who sees what Luke sees – he is in a bushy area with long grass and a grey wall. He is utterly tired and wants to come home,” she said.

“I have attempted everything, distributed flyers, visited vets, animal welfare organisations, local pounds – the list is endless. No one seems to know where he is. We have gotten a few tips, only to be disappointed to find it’s a different dog and then our lead gets cold,” Louw said.

If you see Luke, call Soné Louw on 067-409-2315.
