Gatemotor ‘thief’ gets famous
The suspect was spotted driving around in a single cab bakkie.
A suspected gate-motor thief gained infamy in the wrong way after he got caught on camera in the Pretoria North area. The man described as “tall” was spotted allegedly stealing gate motors in Karenpark and other areas in the north recently.
On video footage of a security camera, the lone “thief” was spotted in a single cab bakkie driving around Karenpark, where he stopped at a gate to remove its motor. The thief removed the gate motor in less than 10 minutes before driving off.
The video was too unclear for the man to be positively identified and the registration number of his vehicle remained unknown.
“This thief has been very active in the north for the past month, and we are unsure whether more people are working with him,” said Renier Lubbe of the Amandasig/Akasia Action Group.
Lubbe warned the community to be on the lookout for suspicious people and vehicles.
