Mystery over East shooting, two injured
The two men were buying food in the area when four men open fire on them.

Police are searching for four armed men following a shooting incident that took place near a Mooikloof petrol station on Thursday afternoon. Two men were injured and police believe it was an attempted murder.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane said the pair were buying food in the area when the group of four men opened fire on them.
“The unknown suspects who were in two vehicles shot at the two. A number of shots were fired. The two managed to get into their vehicle and flee to an ABSA outlet at Woodlands shopping centre.”
Initially, Woodlands shopping centre reported that the pair were alleged robbers, however Mbatsane cleared the confusion saying the pair were not robbers, but had escaped the shooting.
He said the shooters were still at large. “Nothing was taken and a case of attempted murder is being investigated.”

In a statement on Facebook Woodlands shopping centred said the affected areas within the mall had been cordoned off and police and paramedics were on the scene.
“All surrounding shops have been closed and the situation is under control,” the statement read. “Once the police and paramedics have cleared the scene the surrounding stores will resume trading.” Speaking to Rekord, a person who opted to remain anonymous, was in the area said she heard four gunshots “and then a lot of sirens”.
“And more gun shots were fired by the Mooikloof Ridge area,” she said. The centre said the safety and security of its tenants and customers were of utmost importance to them and that they were working closely with the police.
When Rekord visited the scene heavily armed police, security companies and paramedics could be seen outside. A chopper was also seen hovering over the area.
