Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, said police were aware of the trend where spikes are placed on the road to cause damage to vehicles, forcing them to slow down.

He said even though no robberies had taken place and many of the motorists managed to drive slowly to a nearby petrol station, motorists still needed to be vigilant to avoid falling prey to these criminal activities.

“There were a few incident brought to our attention,” he said

“Motorists must please be cautious and avoid driving at night,” he said.
