Three suspected house burglars arrested in high-speed chase

“Trying to elude his would-be captors, the suspect jumped over a resident’s wall only to be attacked by the owner’s dog.”

A suspected house burglar got a nasty surprise when he jumped over a resident’s wall, only to be bitten by the owner’s dog and almost impaling his hand on devil fork fencing on Friday afternoon.

“At the time we were chasing three men we believed to have been behind several house break-ins in the area,” said Mark Badenhorst of Noordvaal Security.

“We have been looking for them for about two weeks when a CPF member spotted the suspects’ vehicle, a Honda CR-V in Rooihuiskraal, Centurion.

When the suspects evaded the vehicle, they took the Botha Avenue turn off and ditched the vehicle in Union Avenue.

Two of them were arrested in Union Avenue.

“The third suspect fled on foot over the train tracks in Lyttelton Manor as we searched for him.

“Shortly after, we got a call about a house break-in attempt at a house in Kruger Avenue and it turned out to be the third suspect.

“Trying to elude his would-be captors, the suspect jumped over a resident’s wall only to be attacked by the owner’s dog.

“His hand was badly injured being cut by a devil fork fence and he had to be treated on scene before he was taken to hospital,” said Badenhorst.

Several medical and security services, Scorpion Risk Services, Axon, Monitor Net, Copwatch, police, Tshwane metro police, Bull Security and CPF assisted on the scene.
