Police investigate attempted murder following N4 highway shooting

A car, which two businessmen were travelling in, was hit with a hail of bullets while travelling on the N4 highway after they allegedly collected an undisclosed amount of cash from a cash-in-transit company in Silvertondale.

The police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a car, which two businessmen were travelling in, was hit with a hail of bullets while allegedly travelling on the N4 highway in the east of Pretoria.

Silverton police spokesperson, warrant officer Senzo Mculu, said the two businessmen were on their way to Brakpan travelling on the highway when multiple shots were fired at their car.

“On their way to Brakpan, they were travelling along Stormvoël Road, turning left into N1 south off-ramp just In between N1 and N4, passengers from another car started to open fire,” he said.

Mculu said the businessmen, travelling in a VW Amarok, had collected an undisclosed amount of cash from a cash-in-transit company at a Silvertondale company when the incident happened.

The suspects fled the crime scene with the money.

Mculu said although the car was hit with multiple gunshots none of the victims suffered gunshot wounds.

“One victim jumped out of the car and injured his hand. Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment and were discharged.”
