Active Covid-19 cases increase

“If you, at any point, start developing any symptoms associated with Covid-19 please ensure you self-isolate and get tested.”

The number of active Covid-19 cases in the metro have risen, according to Tshwane metro mayor Randall Williams.

“As of Monday, 19 April, there are currently 762 active Covid-19 cases in Tshwane,” he said.

Williams said a week ago, on Monday 12 April, the number of active cases was 671.

This translated to 91 new cases over the past week.

“It is now over two weeks since the Easter weekend where a number of religious gatherings took place across the city,” he said.

“It is critical for residents who had attended these and social gatherings to take extra precautions and monitor their health carefully.

“If you, at any point, start developing any symptoms associated with Covid-19 please ensure you self-isolate and get tested.”

Williams further said the metro would continue to track and monitor the progress of the virus and advise residents accordingly.

Trends which were observed over the past five days in relation to the daily increase in active cases were:

– Thursday, 15 April 2021: 112 new cases

– Friday, 16 April 2021: 79 new cases

– Saturday, 17 April 2021: 68 new cases

– Sunday, 18 April 2021: 108 new cases

– Monday, 19 April 2021: 59 new cases
