Motorcyclist critical after hit-and-run crash outside Pretoria

"We treated the critical patient before he was airlifted to Steve Biko hospital for further care."

A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries during a hit-and-run accident outside Pretoria on Monday evening.

The incident happened on the R515 just outside Rayton, said Rufus Engelbrecht of Emer-G-Med.

“The motorcyclist was struck by a bakkie that then left the scene. We treated the critical patient before he was airlifted to Steve Biko hospital for further care,” he said.

Police are investigating.

In a separate unrelated incident, a pedestrian was critical after he was struck by a car on Solomon Mahlangu Drive on Monday morning.

“As he got out of a taxi and moved to across the road, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle and sustained critical injuries,” said Engelbrecht.

He was treated on scene and then transported to hospital.
