Police need help in searching for Mamelodi man

Chosana Reggie Bodibe went missing on 17 January 2021.

Police are appealing to the Mamelodi community to help in the search for a 27-year-old man who has been missing since January.

Chosana Reggie Bodibe went missing on 17 January 2021.

His family have asked the public and the police for their help in finding their brother.

Police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane said Bodibe was staying in Mountain View squatter camp ext. 17, Mamelodi East.

“During the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black T-shirt and long brown trousers.”

His sister Matsimele Chosana reported him missing on 13 of April after his neighbours noticed her brother was missing.

Chosana said she last saw his brother when he came to visit her at Skierlik informal settlement in the far east of Mamelodi.

“All along I thought my brother was safe and sound since we spoke on the phone, not noticing that he went missing,” said Matsimele.

“It is unlike my brother to go missing for days without telling us about his whereabouts.

“We asked neighbours about my brother but they said it has been days since they last saw him,” she said.

“We searched everywhere. We went to the hospitals, around town and the government mortuary. We also contacted friends and relatives as far as Limpopo, but nobody knows where he is.”

Police appealed to the public to assist with any information that could lead to his whereabouts.

Mashiloane said there is no waiting period to report a missing person.

The police have already started with the investigation.

Anyone with more information is requested to call the police on the following numbers: Mamelodi East SAPS: 012-815-7000, Crime Stop: 08600-10111 or Matsimele on 076-900-4724.
