Centurion residents help catch two house robbers
This as the robbers allegedly gained entry at an elderly woman’s home in Wierda Park.
Two house robbers were detained after a community member reported suspicious behaviour at a house in Wierda Park on Friday afternoon.
Monitor Net spokesperson JP Le Roux said an elderly woman was held up by the robbers after they gained access to her home.
He said Monitor Net dispatched several vehicles and upon their arrival, the getaway driver sped off in an unknown white vehicle, while the two robbers fled on foot.
“We spotted them jumping over walls and the community also helped us to track them as they were jumping into yards.”
Le Roux said the men were chased and corned and detained by the security company.
He said the two were handed over to the SAPS in Wierdabrug.
Le roux said a stolen cellphone was recovered through tracking.
Sergeant Divine Nkuna of the Wierdabrug police station confirmed that two men, aged 35 and 43, were arrested after the robbery.
She said further investigations would take place.
