Donation boost for Wollies animal shelter
“A total of 120 dogs and 218 cats were dropped off at the shelter,” says Wollies founder Cilla Trexler.
An entire trailer full of pet food was collected after a fundraising project for the benefit of Wollies Animal Shelter.
A few athletes from Definition and Fitness held a three-hour long trampoline marathon in Ninapark SPAR’s parking area last Saturday.
Cilla Trexler of Wollies mentioned that such a fundraising project provides a great boost to the shelter.
“Society is so morbid and the pandemic has weakened our state of mind. That’s why Saturday’s project was so much fun.
“This bunch of athletes provided great entertainment for the visitors to Ninapark,” said Trexler.

Definition and Fitness owner Dohme Steynberg and her teammate Marike Mathews jumped the full three hours.
“After the fundraising project, we received so many requests from other charities to help with a fundraising project.
“The project was a huge success and I just got a warm feeling in my heart when I realised how much food we had collected,” Steynberg said.
“The support was incredible.
“I have a very soft spot for pets and that’s why I decided on Wollies,” said Steynberg.
Singer Soné Joubert entertained spectators with her music.
Trexler mentioned that over 200 cats have been dropped off at the shelter over the past month.
“Not everyone realises the amount of animals in our care.
“Society is struggling financially,” she said.
“Quite a few families have been forced to move to smaller places and this plays a big role in the fact that they can no longer necessarily keep pets.
“A total of 120 dogs and 218 cats were dropped off at the shelter,” she added.
Winter is around the corner and Wollies would like to urge the community to donate blankets for the animals in their care.
“Animal lovers donate necessities such as blankets and food at the shelter on a daily basis.
“I will never turn pets away, it’s not in my nature,” Trexler said.
“However, it is heartbreaking to see how many animals are dropped off at the shelter.
“Wollies is grateful for everyone’s support. The community does not hesitate to jump in and help where they can,” Trexler said.
