Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre in Erasmus Park held its first night market on Friday.
Castle Gate Lifestyle Centre in Erasmus Park hosted its first night market on Friday attracting a large turnout.
The centre, set in a pleasant environment abutting the N1, Van Ryneveld Avenue and Solomon Mahlangu Drive, forms part of the development of the last portion of the original Waterkloof Farm.
Many visitors, mainly from surrounding suburbs, expressed appreciation for a night market on their doorstep.

Minke Brits, local singer, took care of good vibes and visitors said they just loved listening to her music while watching the sunset on the horizon.
Couples, families and friends, browsed through the arts and crafts stalls from 16:00 to 22:00 and relished dining in the open air.

Isabell Swanepoel, marketing portfolio and spokesperson for the centre, said the centre opened in November last year and received many enquiries about hosting a night market.
“Since we focus on lifestyle and convenience and especially support local products, we extended an invitation to the community to exhibit their products. All the exhibitors present tonight are from the community,” Swanepoel said.

“There are arts, crafts, food, clothing and jewellery stalls, we offer a variety of products. Shops in the centre had also been invited to participate in the market.”
“We invite the community to come and enjoy what we offer them.”
Brenda Reddy, property manager of the centre, said they were positive about the initiative and believe it will only expand.
“We focus on the community and encourage members to participate.”
