Late Hercules CPF member will be remembered for his service to the community

Some of the community members paid tribute to Aucamp by putting up a wooden cross in Andeon in Pretoria West.

Former logistics and operational manager of Hercules CPF, Jan Aucamp died suddenly on Sunday, 18 April.

The exact circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown.

Aucamp (65) was part of the Hercules CPF for over 10 years.

Some residents paid tribute to Aucamp by putting up a wooden cross on the corner of Kenneth Street and Hornsnek Road in Andeon, Pretoria West on Friday evening.

Newly elected chairperson of Hercules CPF sector 3, Ria Venter said that he was a “noble man who did not expect much from life”.

“Jan was an iron man and his involvement in the CPF was but one of the many things he did for the community.

“I will remember how we laughed together and the special memories we shared.

“A few minutes of chatting to him every day has already become part of our routine. I will miss those moments terribly,” she said.

Venter added that she will miss Aucamp.

DA chairperson of ward 1, Johan Cloete said Aucamp always lent a hand to his fellow man.

“I enjoyed his company as he had so many stories to share.

“Jan, you will forever be in my thoughts,” said Cloete.

A close friend of Aucamp, Edna van Vuuren, said that he was a “father figure” to many.

“In March, Hercules CPF honoured Jan for his selfless service to the community.

“We had worldly respect for Jan and he has done so much for the community of Hercules.

“He will be sorely missed,” she said.

Aucamp’s memorial service will take place in Danville on Monday, 26 April.
