Couple hijacked, kidnapped in east by bogus cops

They were taken to an unknown house where they were forced to transfer a large amount of cash.

A couple were hijacked, kidnapped and robbed in the east of Pretoria on Friday evening by three men posing as police officers.

The couple were driving on Delmas Road, near Rietvallei nature reserve, when a vehicle with flashing blue lights signalled them to stop, according to police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela.

“Inside the vehicle were three armed men dressed as police officers,” Makhubela said.

“After they stopped, the couple were forced out of their vehicle and into the suspects’ vehicle.

“They were taken to an unknown house where they were forced to transfer a large amount of cash.”

Other valuables were also taken during the ordeal.

Makhubela said the couple were then taken back to the road and back to their car.

They were only then allowed to leave.

“Police can confirm that a case of kidnapping, hijacking and armed robbery was opened and is under investigation.”

No arrests have been made.
