Pretoria north residents have been encouraged to get more involved with the emergency services and police forums in their area.

This was during a joint event organised by the Pretoria North emergency service and the Hillside Family Market.

The event was held at the Hillside golf course on Saturday morning.

One of the organisers Githea Landsberg said the aim of the event was to build a good working relationship and reinforce their bond with the Pretoria north emergency services and sector 1 and 2 CPFs.

The event was attended by the police, sector 1 and 2 CPF members, Soshanguve K-9 search and rescue, Gauteng EMS rescue and the members of the public.

“The police interacted with the community through giving children rides in the police vehicles, the K9 units did search and rescue demonstrations, and the fire brigade did a little demonstration putting out a fire and using jaws of life,” said Landsberg.

The medical services demonstrated how they saved lives.

Monica Else of Hillside Family Market sponsored Ginger Love boosters for all the emergency service members.

Hillside Family Market stall owners sponsored items to make up hampers for a prize won by a member of the public which also icluded an hour’s drive with a police officer in a patrol vehicle.

The market is held every Saturday morning, and stalls are filled with fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, pastries and beautiful handcraft items.
