Covid-19 cases climb in Tshwane
“The recent numbers represent an increase of 105 new active Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week.”

The Tshwane metro has noted an increase of active Covid-19 cases, this week, as it continues with its ward-based outreach campaign in a bid to lessen the spread of the virus.
Tshwane mayor Randall Williams said the most recent numbers indicated that active cases had jumped from 641 in the previous week, to the current figure of 746 as of Monday.
Williams said in contrast to trends observed in the previous week, the number of active cases had been steadily increasing.
He said the increases were recorded as follows:
– Thursday, 29 April: 94 new cases
– Friday, 30 April: 72 new cases
– Saturday, 1 May: 108 new cases
– Sunday, 02 May: 117 new cases
– Monday, 03 May: 81 new cases
“The recent numbers represent an increase of 105 new active Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week. This increase in active cases is a stark reminder that the Covid-19 threat has not yet been eliminated.”
He urged all Tshwane residents to continue adhering to Covid-19 regulations, as they were meant to protect people.
“It’s important that we continue wearing our masks, sanitising and social distancing.”
He said the metro would continue to monitor and track the spread of Covid-19 and provide feedback to residents accordingly.
The Tshwane metro said it would this week through its Covid-19 ward-based outreach campaign target areas in regions 3, 4, 5 and 6 as part of its weekly screening and testing of community members in areas identified as Covid-19 hotspots.
