Man stabbed to death in Eersterust shebeen toilets

“The victim was seen coming out of the tavern’s toilets clutching his chest at around 23:00.”

Police are investigating the murder of a man who was stabbed to death in the toilets of a tavern in Eersterust on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said the identity of the man who allegedly stabbed the 36-year-old victim was known to them but no arrests had been made though.

“The victim was seen coming out of the tavern’s toilets clutching his chest around 23:00,” Shibambo said.

“Upon closer inspection, the owner saw that the victim was bleeding profusely. He later succumbed to his injuries and was certified dead on the scene.”

Shibambo said this was an “isolated incident”.

He said during a CPF meeting held last week, visible policing commander Captain Moses Mokwana said the Eersterust police station had reported zero cases of murder in April and only one case of attempted murder.

Mokwana said mostly drug-related crimes were reported in April.
