One dead after north estate confrontation

“One suspect has since been arrested."

A Pretoria North man succumbed to his stab wounds in hospital after a confrontation at a residential estate last week.

“There was a conflict between residents in an estate, after a WhatsApp message was sent,” police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said.

The WhatsApp message, where an estate agent reportedly referred to some residents as pigs, was circulated.

The deceased was then said to have been stabbed during a confrontation.

“The victim was stabbed three times and passed away in hospital on Saturday, 1 May,” he said.

Van Dyk said while an attempted murder docket was initially opened for investigation, the docket was changed to murder after the victim died.

“One suspect has since been arrested,” he said.

The bail application was expected to continue on Friday.
