Police chase, shoot-out ensued in another spike trap case
Three of eight drivers were allegedly robbed Friday night after spikes were placed on the R513 near Cullinan. One of the victims was shot and wounded.
A police chase and shoot-out ensued on the R513 on Friday night.
This happened after criminals placed spike traps on the road.
Cullinan CPF spokesperson Karen Yssel said as many as eight vehicles were spiked on the R513 between Baviaanspoort prison and the Mamelodi crossing between 21:00 and 23:00.

“Three of the vehicles were robbed and one victim was shot in the leg,” Yssel said.
She told Rekord that police were patrolling near the area and quickly responded to the scene.
“There was a shoot-out between police and the alleged robbers. Unfortunately the suspects managed to escape in a getaway vehicle.”
Yssel said the spikes, which were placed on the road, were recovered.
“It is worrying that these robbers were now using a vehicle to chase after or follow vehicles damaged on the spike traps,” she said.
“The suspects would follow their victims until they eventually pull over to change the damaged tyres.”
Police could not be reached for comment before publication.
