A resident from Centurion fell victim to a house robbery on Tuesday afternoon in broad daylight in Wierda Park.
According to JP le Roux, MonitorNet spokesperson, the security company responded and arrived at the residence at 14:15.
“We learned that the gate was lifted from its rail and forced open, where the robbers gained entrance to the property,” Le Roux said.
Le Roux said that “three to four robbers entered the residence and robbed the woman, in her fifties, of electrical products and jewellery.” “The victim said the robbers had a firearm, but that she was not injured,” Le Roux said.
“There were rumours of available footage showing the robbers speeding off in a motor vehicle, but we cannot confirm this.” Wierdabrug police spokesperson Sergeant Divine Nkuna confirmed the incident was reported at the station and a case of house robbery was opened. According to Nkuna, three robbers entered the house.
It was reported on social media that the woman was robbed at gunpoint, however, Nkuna said, “we were informed that the robbers were armed with a crowbar and a fork”.
